Welcome to Morning Service

All hail the power of Jesus' name

A little later in our service this morning, Peter’s going to bring the second part of his sermon from Ps 1. Where we’re reminded by King David that:

“Blessed is the man who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on His law day and night.”

Father; thank you for your word today, thank you that in the Uk there’s no real restrictions from us reading your word, and like King David meditating on it night and day. Help us, through the Holy Spirit, to put into practice all that you teach us through your word today. Amen.

You're the Word of God the Father

I Stand amazed when I realize

Father; all we can do when we gaze into your glory, is to stand amazed that you would not only love the likes of us, but lay down your life in order to redeem us.  Lord, today, we're truly thankful. Amen.

Let’s pray: “Your word is a lamp for my feet, and a light on my path.”

Father thank you for your word the Bible, that illuminates our pathway through what at times can be troublesome lives. We thank you today that nothing is hidden from you. and nothing can ever take you by surprise. Amen.

A prayer of confession: Father; by Your Spirit’s power, reveal to us, all that keeps us from being in the wonderful fellowship that was in the world, up until the time Adam sinned against you, and brought about the separation from you, that we so long to see restored. We confess before you today Lord those times when we’ve failed to love you as you call us to love. When we’ve failed to love our neighbours, and when we’ve disobeyed your word. Father, we bring these things, and many other of our failings out into the light, and repent of our wrong doing before you today. In the sure and certain knowledge that if we confess our sins, you will forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Amen.

Lord; our world is full today of those Psalm 1, describes as mockers. Those who mock your existence, who mock your Omnipotence. Who mock your work of redemption on the cross! Lord; just as you’ve shown your mercy to us, who, at one time may have been among the mockers ourselves. Reveal yourself into the hearts and lives of all who stand guilty of mocking you today. Grant that they may hear and receive the truth. The gospel message of salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ, and bow the knee in worship and adoration. Amen.

Lord; as again we see fresh outbreaks of Covid 19, in Europe. Please grant wisdom to the PM, and all the cabinet ministers, who have the awful task of trying to balance our physical health, with the economic health of the nation. In short the lively-hoods of many, many people who face losing their jobs as a result of this pandemic. Lord, only you know the outcome of this virus, because you have full authority over it. Amen.

Lord; as your people, we believe you have allowed this pandemic to sweep across the world in order that mankind will turn away from sin, and turn to you, the living Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Lord; as we come to your word now, we ask your Spirit’s guidance, as we firstly read your word. Then secondly, as we sit under the teaching of your word.

Hymn A debtor to mercy alone

Father; we thank you for being with us today. For your word both read and expounded to us.

May we continue throughout this Lord’s Day, to worship you as you call all your people to worship. In Spirit and truth. Amen.
