Welcome

Welcome to our Online Sunday Service.  Whether you are a regular attender at Goodwood Evangelical Church or whether you're visiting, you are equally welcome.

We've just completed week 7 of lockdown and, if you're looking at this on Sunday morning, we're waiting to hear what comes next - and that raises all sorts of uncertainties.  One thing we can be certain of though is that God never changes, so we're going to start our service with a hymn that reminds us of His faithfulness to us:

Great is Thy faithfulness

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you that in these difficult and changing times we can be sure that You are with us and that You care for us whatever our circumstances.

Thank you that every day we see more evidence of Your love for us – in the wonders of creation that we see around us, in the kindness and care of our families and friends and neighbours.

Thank you for the creative thought and practical support we see in our church family – help us to continue to find ways to support each other and to become more aware of the needs of people around us.

Thank you for the people we know who have recovered from coronavirus. We pray for people we know who are unwell but don’t know whether they have the virus or not, and for those who have family members with the virus – give them Your peace and healing.

Thank you for all the medical and key workers who continue to risk their own safety to serve others, some known to us, many not known – we pray for them and their families.

We pray for those in government as they make decisions that will have an impact on all our lives – give them wisdom.

We pray for those who are anxious at the prospect of change – give them peace and a certainty that You are with each one of us.

We pray for us as a church, that You will continue to strengthen us, give wisdom to our leaders, give us a continuing care for each other and an even greater trust in You.

We pray for our own individual needs and ask You to continue to be very real to us in these difficult and unusual times. Help us to listen to what You have to say to us today.

We bring all our prayers to You in Jesus’ name, knowing that You hear and will answer.

Amen

The Potter's Hand

Our next song also reminds us that all of our days are held in God's hand, and asks Him to "Call me, guide me, lead me, walk beside me;"

Stephen will be reading and talking about two events that happened while Jesus was here on earth.  You can watch a preview of one of the stories in this short children's cartoon:

Jesus heals Jairus' daughter

Touched by Jesus

Prayer

Spend a few minutes thinking about what you have just heard, then please join us in prayer:

Thank you Father for Your faithfulness to us.  Help us to listen to You, to remember what You have been saying to us in this service, and to experience Your touch on our lives today and throughout this week.

Amen

The Blessing

The Lord bless you and keep you
Make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you
The Lord turn His face toward you
And give you peace

Amen, Amen, Amen
Amen, Amen, Amen

May His favour be upon you and a thousand generations
And your family and your children and
Their children and their children

May His presence go before you
And behind you and beside you
All around you and within you

He is with you
He is with you

In the morning, in the evening
In your coming and your going
In your weeping and rejoicing,

He is for you
He is for you
