Welcome to Sunday at Ty'r Bugail online ...

Why is it important to work through the service sheet, clicking the links and joining in wherever you find yourself this Saturday night or Sunday morning?
Check it out in this little video I made for you last week ... let's call it a warm 'word of exhortation'?

A word of exhortation (warning: contains lambs!)

Here's our first hymn for today ... full your lungs and sing along like only God is listening!

Here's the reading for today ... John 6:43-51

"‘Stop grumbling among yourselves,’ Jesus answered. 44 â€˜No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets: “They will all be taught by God.” Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me. 46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. 47 Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. 50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live for ever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.’

The reason for our next hymn is found in that reading ... In Christ alone

Here are our prayer headings for the week. Let's take a moment to pray for our friends in the faith ... and perhaps there'll be answers to prayer to share from this list in our Zoom Hangout at 3 p.m. this Sunday (Details of that follow)

1. Pray for the Ministry ... which is going through RADICAL change!
So ... pray that the things that we've put out online through the week actually DO come TOGETHER we we all use this Service Sheet on Sunday morning and join the Zoom Hangout to chat on Sunday afternoon.

2. Pray that we can all adapt to the new situation and feed our souls WELL in fellowship in the Word, in prayer and by the Spirit's help

3. Pray for doctors, nurses, police officers, ambulance personnel and everyone working out there to meet the demands of the COVID-19 pandemic
- Caleb is now fully operational with mountain rescue and will be putting himself 'out there'.
- There are many Christians in the front line services ... pray that they will be protected and live faithfully by God's grace.

4. Patricia and Christine are now on total 'lock down' in Coleg Elidyr where they are serving vulnerable people as carers. I have only managed to speak with Christine who asks specifically for prayer that she will be able to share her faith with the residents. She has been given permission to start a prayer meeting there for residents but there are none who believe. I (Simon) have been able to recommend an unbeliever in that home speaks with them today. Let's pray that some will become curious and decide to attend a prayer meeting or something? Patricia and Christine are far from home and are here to serve the residents and the Lord - pray that they will be protected and grow in faith and be encouraged by the Gospel of God's grace?

5. Let's pray for our folk with pre-existing health conditions that the Lord will be close and keep them safe ... Stuart, Liz, Tom, Barbara, Clive ... everyone over 60 (nope. I'm not QUITE there yet!) ... for a close walk with God and for fruitful prayer, writing, and Christian fruitfulness along with the discipline to practice social seclusion until the crisis passes!

6. Barbara specifically requests that the results of a recent blood test will be OK

7. Wit & Ash are thankful that the pub hasn't opened yet ... that they haven't laid out all the capital that would be needed to launch that and then had to shut, with the subsequent losses! Wit is also thankful that Ash has got a good long term project at work on a house near Brecon which has no-one living in it ... which makes it all much safer!
They ask for prayer to be a good Christian witness to the people in their village and supportive to people living under pressure in Trecastle. God bless them!

8. Stuart and Liz give thanks that in answer to our prayers last week their cattle passed the latest whole herd TB test (which is amazing, because there were HUNDREDS of them!) God is good. Always. (We'll need to keep remembering that!)

9. Please pray for what is happening to agriculture. The Government wants food to flow in greater volume but the livestock markets are not even allowing vendors to attend the sales now. But there's worse news.
John Eirian Davies from Capel Isaac is an auctioneer at Brecon Market. He is ALWAYS very positive about the trade.
Here is his market report from this Tuesday:
"Brecon 24/3 - We had 30 springers, 60 Hoggs and 80 ewes. We sold them all. They looked a bad trade especially compared to last week. In a fortnight looking back they could be serious.
Watch this space for next week."
He has NEVER written so grim a market report in his life.
I was shocked.
Please pray for food producers (our farmers) and the food supply chain?
Thanks.
10. Finally, you may have seen in the news that in the space of a few days last week a consultant at Glangwili hospital has invented a ventilator for COVID-19 patients and had it built at a hydraulic engineering works in Bettws, Ammanford. It has been approved by the Welsh NHS and has already saved the life of a man in hospital in Llanelli with COVID-19.
Dr. Rhys Thomas lives near us at New Inn and has both been to Book Club and heard the Gospel from us. Like the rest of us, he is quite a character, and he is in a high responsibility role. Let's pray for his work, the safety of his life as he works in trauma care as well as for the safety of his soul.

So here's the Bible ministry podcast on John 6 for today. It's about 27 minutes long. About how long it takes to drink a cup of tea? Feel free to make one then drink it as you listen!
