Service 3rd May 2020 - Welcome!

A further couple few of things to look out for today – Say hello to Paul B and Mike McD as well as an appearance from ‘Tony Hart’!

Great for us to be able to give God thanks once again for his blessings upon this week – even through the darker days some of us will have experienced – God is with us!

Let’s thank him for that – and sing a great song of praise together.

Over the next number of weeks – we’ll take a look at the Lord’s Prayer

LORD’s DAY 47

Asks a question…

Q. What does the first petition mean?

Answer: ‘Hallowed be your name’ means: Help us to truly know you.1 to honour, glorify, and praise you for all your works and for all that shines forth from them: your almighty power, wisdom, kindness, justice, mercy and truth.2

And it means, Help us to direct all our living – what we think, say, and do – so that your name will never be blasphemed because of us but always honoured and praised.3

1Jer 9: 23-24; 31: 33-34; Matt 16: 17; John 17: 3

2Ex 34: 5-8; Psalm 145; Jer 32: 16-20; Luke 1: 46-55; 68-75; Rom 11: 33-36

3Psalm 115: 1; Matt 5: 16

Let’s say together the Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
