Welcome

Welcome to our Online Sunday Morning Service.

Today is the big day!  Wimbledon's men's final and the Euros Final.  Who will be the victor?  Who will win the victory?

To be honest I don't know, but I do know that Jesus has the won the most important victory - the battle for my salvation.

My debt is paid the vict'ry won...

Our first song this morning celebrates the victory Jesus bought at the cross.

The Lord is my salvation

Let's pray

As we pray, perhaps you could add some specific situations.

Our Father in heaven, we honour your holy name and bow before you. You are the Eternal God and Creator of the universe.

We rejoice because you are the truth. There is no pretence about you. We can have complete confidence in what you say.

We rejoice because you are pure. There is not one speck of sin in you. We can be sure that you will always lead us in the right way.

We rejoice because you are a God of love. You loved us so much, you came to die for us. We can have absolute assurance that you have saved us and give us eternal life.

Yet, we are human and still become anxious about our world, other people and ourselves.

We pray for our world. Some are motivated by greed and cause so much harm to others. Thank you that you are the God of truth and goodness. We ask that these will prevail and that more and more people would know your grace. So many are gripped by fear and apprehension about their situations. Thank you that when we bring our prayers to you, you give us peace.

We pray for our country. Many take no interest in you and concern themselves in being comfortable and seeking pleasure. We too can easily live this way. Thank you that you go on loving us despite our sin. Please forgive us and help us to turn our eyes to you.

We pray for our church and ask that you would lead us forward in the way you want us to go. Guide us as when restrictions are lifted to be wise in what we do. Thank you that we have a wonderful gospel to share. Help us to share the good news of Jesus to all around us.

We pray for ourselves. Thank you that we can bring every detail to you. Please look after those that are having a holiday. Give them a time of real refreshment. Please guide those that are uncertain about the way forward or have decisions to make about their futures. Open the doors that lead to the way you wish them to go. Please help those that are sick or facing medical issues. Give them your healing and peace.

Thank you that we are citizens of heaven. Thank you that one day, you will return and take us to be with you forever.

Amen

Exodus 36:1–8 (Listen)

36:1 “Bezalel and Oholiab and every craftsman in whom the LORD has put skill and intelligence to know how to do any work in the construction of the sanctuary shall work in accordance with all that the LORD has commanded.”

And Moses called Bezalel and Oholiab and every craftsman in whose mind the LORD had put skill, everyone whose heart stirred him up to come to do the work. And they received from Moses all the contribution that the people of Israel had brought for doing the work on the sanctuary. They still kept bringing him freewill offerings every morning, so that all the craftsmen who were doing every sort of task on the sanctuary came, each from the task that he was doing, and said to Moses, “The people bring much more than enough for doing the work that the LORD has commanded us to do.” So Moses gave command, and word was proclaimed throughout the camp, “Let no man or woman do anything more for the contribution for the sanctuary.” So the people were restrained from bringing, for the material they had was sufficient to do all the work, and more.

And all the craftsmen among the workmen made the tabernacle with ten curtains. They were made of fine twined linen and blue and purple and scarlet yarns, with cherubim skillfully worked.

Colossians 1:15–23 (Listen)

The Preeminence of Christ

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

21 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, 22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.
