Prayers of Adoration & Confession
Gracious Father, when we read of the wicked, we think of others. We think of people who say one thing but do another. We think of people who seem one way, but are actually another. We think of others.
But your word also wells us that the prayers of the upright please you. Those who seek you out, who are made righteous by Jesus, those who go to their knees in prayer, these are the people we are to be.
Father, we desire to be the righteous; the praying; and not the wicked, and yet when we look within, we see sin and struggling. Help us, today, to see Jesus, and his righteousness, and a life that was full of prayer. Jesus always talked to you.
Today, we as consider his words to us about prayer and praying, we ask that we would take the steps to talk to you more often, and so see less of who we used to be, and more of who we are to be.
This is no small thing to ask, but we do ask in the strong and perfect name of Jesus, Amen.
My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
